Angie and WPAgently compared

Angie combines Elementor's own AI with a daily renewing credit allowance and now documents Angie MCP. WPAgently exposes a direct MCP endpoint for your own agent.

This page is shorter than the other comparisons, and there is a reason for that. Angie and WPAgently are not two variants of the same thing, they are two different product models. Once you see that, you have already made the comparison.

When WPAgently is the stronger fit

WPAgently

When you want to connect your own agent to a documented WordPress workflow

  • You bring the agent and provider you choose instead of working from a vendor credit allowance. The connection runs through the direct, documented MCP endpoint on your site.
  • Companion 0.4.121 exposes 414 documented abilities. Default-closed profiles determine which of them an agent can see at all.
  • Server-side schema and parameter boundaries limit the input for each supported write path. Standard content pipelines abort when the bot has administrator rights.
  • Supported article and landing-page pipelines document conflict hashes, read-back, sometimes render checks and idempotency. Rollback or recovery apply only to the paths whose contracts document them.
  • Backup and restore are included paths. Power stays separate and off by default.

Two different product models

The Angie statements come from Elementor's own product page, the Elementor help centre and WordPress.org. The WPAgently statements come from the product documentation in this repository.

Who provides the AI and who pays for it

Angie

Elementor provides the AI and a daily-renewing credit allowance on the free plan. There is no provision for your own API key; the sources checked say that would need a custom integration.

WPAgently

You bring your own agent and pay your AI provider directly. There are no credits and no AI processing on any WPAgently server.

What the current sources say about MCP

Angie

WordPress.org currently lists version 1.1.15 from 30 August 2026. Version 1.1.14 introduced Angie MCP on the same day with “Connect any AI client to your site with Angie”. That evidences the announced external route, but not hands-on testing of Angie for this comparison.

WPAgently

The Companion plugin exposes an MCP endpoint at /wp-json/wp-agent/mcp that your own agent connects to from outside.

How far verification reaches

Angie

Generated code runs in a secure test environment before deployment. We found no further statements on role limits, logging or draft behaviour in the sources checked.

WPAgently

Supported paths read the result back and sometimes run a render check. Rollback or recovery apply only where the relevant contract documents them. This promise explicitly does not apply to arbitrary PHP code.

The same caveat applies here: what was checked is the public documentation, not the source code. What is not described there is something we cannot evidence, which is a different thing from it being absent.

What Angie is the right choice for

If you build your site with Elementor and have no appetite for setup, a lot speaks for Angie.

  • Angie is built by Elementor, one of the largest vendors in the WordPress ecosystem. On WordPress.org the plugin sits at more than 100,000 active installations on 24 August 2026.
  • WordPress.org currently lists version 1.1.15 from 30 August 2026. Version 1.1.14 introduced Angie MCP on the same day with “Connect any AI client to your site with Angie”.
  • For Angie's own chat interface, you install the plugin and sign in with an Elementor account. You do not need to configure your own provider key or a command-line tool for that path.
  • Angie works with native Elementor assets, code, visual apps, multimodal inputs and the Cloud Library. It also includes Super Admin, Plan Mode and an isolated Test Mode.
  • Generated code is executed in a test environment before deployment. That is a concrete mechanism, not just a promise.

For completeness: on WordPress.org, Angie carries a 3.0 out of 5 rating from 15 reviews on 24 August 2026. It is a snapshot, not a verdict.

Pricing

There is deliberately no price table here. Angie Free works from limited, daily-renewing credits and requires an Elementor account. That is a different cost model from a licence for an agent you choose yourself.

WPAgently Free costs $0, includes 34 core abilities, and does not count calls. The annual subscriptions cost $49 for one website, $99 for five and $149 for 25. They unlock the full feature set. On top of that come the costs of your own AI access, which you pay directly to your AI provider.

Where WPAgently does not keep up today

A comparison that points in one direction only is not a comparison. These are the places where WPAgently is the narrower product.

  • WPAgently Free costs nothing and does not count calls, but it requires your own AI provider. From WordPress 7.0 onwards, you can configure that provider for the WordPress chat or connect an external AI app.
  • Setup depends on the route. The WordPress chat from version 7.0 needs no command-line tool. An external AI app follows its own documented setup and can take more steps than Angie's integrated chat with an Elementor sign-in.
  • For native Elementor structures, WPAgently works through the builder's public interfaces. Elementor itself naturally has the shorter route there.
  • Distribution through the installed Elementor base is orders of magnitude wider than anything a single-handed product reaches.

We checked product scope and MCP against Elementor's own sources and WordPress.org on 31 August 2026. The review figure below remains explicitly a 24 August 2026 snapshot. Angie changes quickly, so we re-check this page regularly.

If you want to keep your own agent

The difference is not a detail. Angie provides the AI service and meters use through credits. WPAgently connects the agent and provider you choose yourself. If you already use Claude Code or Codex and want the same agent on your site, that is the point where the two paths separate.
